I am honoured to be asked to make the music for the awesome upcoming crossover survival / god game Fringe Planet. The game is inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s work, Rim World, Dwarven Fortress, and Factorio and to come out on Steam on July 31st 2020.
The theme is partially inspired by the works of john Williams (in particularly some of the more obscure Indiana Jones and Harry Potter tracks) and by Tim Burton’s Nightmare before Christmas
The main theme for Fringe Planet features: Tremelo Strings, Marimba, Vibraphone, Pizzicato Basses, Woodblock tick tocks, Soprano Singing, Glockenspiel, Harpsichord, Gongs, Strings, Church Choirs, Tambourine, Flutes, Piccolo, Church Organ, Timpani, French Horns, Chimes, Soprano Choir, Anvils, Snare Drums, Voiceover whispers of in-game Latin spells.

Chasing Pumpkins, now on iOS
I had the opportunity to compose and create the music for Chasing Pumpkins, a new Halloween title for iOS (puzzle and action as you move around blocks to avoid pumpkins, and squash them).
This track is a compilation of the Victory music, In-game music and Main Menu music for the game Pumpkin Madness:

The music features heavy influences from Tim Burton Movies and John Williams movie scores, and even a whiff of Hitchcock using instruments such as:
Pizzicato and Tremelo strings
Glockenspiel
Oboe
Bassoon
Various Brass instruments
And much more :)
Ninna Nanna per Juno
On this day Juno, our Second daughter was born, and just as with our firstborn, I composed a lullaby for Juno for when she has trouble sleeping or needs some comfort.
The track features, alto flute, oboe, marimba, pizzicato basses, cello in a mix of soothing melody and harmony.
Pulstar, out on Steam! :)
It finally happened! Frans, Heleen, and myself, have finished working on Pulstar and it is out on Steam, Now! :)
Frans did all the programming and game-development in general, Heleen did all the art and planning, and I was responsible for the universe, flavor, a tad of storytelling, the music and the audio!
New collaborations turned cinematic
Two new tracks. Both exciting collaborations.
The first is a new collaboration with Gert Jan Turin, an upcoming DJ from Groningen:
This track is half Emagica and Half Gert Jan. I had a freaky basic setup with heavy beats and violins, and Gert Jan turned it into a a Trance Track with 90’s sounds. I then added more violins and a lot of brass as a finishing touch.
Heay beats, electro, violins and brass.
Listen to it here:
The second one, is a new collaboration with David Peek (www.davidpeek.nl). I worked with him before on the Goed Genoeg project:
This is basically a setup by David, with chimes, piano and pads, that I added on to in the form of power chords on the electric guitar, pizzicato strings, double basses, harp and trombone.
Cinematic, surrealistic, dreamy, soothing, chimes, piano, pads, guitar, strings, contra bass, harp, trombone

Mendel Bouman Goes Davinci
(Click on the ‘CC’ button for subtitles).
This is my very first video pitch! And also my new campaign against single-mindedness in any field of business. It is a dogma that one person cannot be good at many things and I’ve started my campaign against this dogma to show that there are talented people that can do more than one thing well! Mendel Goes Davinci!
I also made the custom background music that you can listen to seperately here:
Music ‘N’ Games
Yesterday at Music ‘n’ Games in Rotterdam, I had the chance to have a panel of gurus listen to one of my tracks and give me their professional opinion about my work. Scary and healthy, the result was interesting. After listeining to ‘Crawl For Your Life’ I received the following feedback from Joris de Man (Killzone 1, 2, 3): ‘Your production needs more work. I was charmed by your combination of Marimba and military Snare.’ Senne de Jong (Little Chicken Game Company) surprised me with his comment: ‘The most worthy intro music for a game so far’.
